Pupil Premium
The Government introduced the Pupil Premium Grant in April 2011. This grant, which is in addition to main school funding, is seen by the Government as the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. Schools can decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.
At Two Mile Hill we support all our pupils and work hard to help every child achieve their best. We do this by providing high quality classroom teaching supplemented by interventions to support vulnerable learners as and when required. As may be seen by the spreadsheet which details how we spend our Pupil Premium funding creatively to support the progress and attainment of disadvantaged learners. The School Leadership Team and Governing Body monitor the impact of all spending and interventions, including the Pupil Premium.
Sports Premium
Most schools with primary aged pupils receive the PE and Sports Premium Funding. Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of physical education (PE) and sport that they offer.
It is expected that schools will see an improvement against the following five key indicators:
- The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles
- The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
- Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
- Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
- Increased participation in competitive sport
